Event FAQ
Arrivals are from 4pm on the Friday. First session starts at 6:45pm with a health and safety chat.
The last session finishes around 3pm on the Sunday.
Don't worry about being late, let me know and we can put some food aside for you and keep doors open so you can gain entry.
Do read the directions carefully if arriving in the dark
Totnes is the nearest station and is a 10 minute Taxi ride to Sharpham. One of the retreat attendees may be able to pick you up so let me know if you need me to ask.
Yes, alcohol is permitted at Sharpham and we have struck up a deal where they won't charge us a corkage for bringing our own. They do make their own wine so in order to keep the corkage-free deal I suggest we buy some of their wine at some point over the weekend. It is very nice wine!
Checkout of rooms is 10am on the Sunday and they request you remake your beds with fresh bedding (provided). We must vacate our rooms by 10:30 as there will be an incoming group after us.
They provide towels and all bedding so no need to bring these, but do bring house slippers.
We will be having a self-made cabaret on the Saturday night so if you have a party piece you would like to share then come prepared. If you need a guitar then don't forget to bring it along.
Anything goes, stories, songs, jokes, dance, whatever you would like to share.
There is a piano available and if you would like Nick to accompany you then please provide him with some sheet music beforehand.
There is no requirement to take part, you can just sit and watch.
We will be expected to share a few simple tasks such as washing up, setting and clearing tables etc. Be prepared to be assigned at least one task during your stay.
Washing up is quick as there is an industrial sanitiser machine that just needs loading/unloading.
There is a private open-air unheated swimming pool so if you fancy a dip then bring a cossie along (Summer only!)
We will also take a stroll down to the river Dart so bring some appropriate footwear.
Sunday lunch is included, though if you are planning on leaving before this then do let us know so we can tell the kitchen.
